DJ Solothedon
Solomon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Aurora, Colorado in 1996. The youngest child out of four children. A big part of my upbringing was being raised around/in the church. I was always encouraged by my Mom and Dad to pick up a new instrument or learn a new skill musically because of all of the amazing musicians that would come to perform during different church services.
When I made it to high school, I really started to take my music more sincerely. I started making beats in my room and eventually even picked up acting. I didn’t know that just a few years later, I would be a known DJ in the city of Denver but something about being able to give the audience a good show kept me engaged in evolving as an artist/entertainer.
I started to DJ in front of a live audience in 2017. The name Solo The Don came from a few different inspirations. i.e. Kanye West, Big Sean and Polo the don. They are all rappers but they have always had the best wordplay surrounding the term “Don” If you look up what a don is in the dictionary, it stands for someone who is a trusted advisor in the mafia. “Solo” is just a nickname my friends gave me! Ha! Put the two together and you get Solo The Don!
I like to think that people are trusting me to always bring a great party and play the best music! I love putting on a good show!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were some bumps in the road getting this far. Luckily, God has blessed my career all the way leading up to this day. There were times where I didn’t know if taking this path musically was the right direction to go. However, I stayed committed and only shared my dreams with people I knew cared about me. I found a mentor. He’s a business coach. Now he’s my friend. Joe Nicassio. We would always talk about how I could take my Djing to the next level. The key to overcoming challenging times is to stay true to your original inspirations. Finding a mentor was a big part in my journey as well. Find someone who will encourage you to stay on your path in life.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a festival, club, and mobile DJ/Producer. A big part of what I do has a lot to do with bringing the most value musically to any venue or party. Although I DJ at clubs, parties, and cooperate events. My business is most known for its live concert performances. I work with multiple artists til this day, helping them produce their live sets and concerts. A lot of music fans around the world still hold a live performance to a very high bar. Sometimes it’s not just the music that gets them interested but it’s the live stage presence that makes them become fans. Organization, the song orders, the DJ, the rapper, the lights, the sound effects all play a big role in creating fans instantly!
DJ Solo The Don works around the clock with artists, rappers, and songwriters. This is what sets the business apart from other DJs in the city. The flexibility to be almost everywhere at the same time! Some people wonder how I have been able to do so much in such little time. It’s just because I am always working.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to engaging with my audiences even more. For the future, I plan on performing and Djing in front of even larger crowds! I’m looking forward to taking this business all around the world and soon to a city/festival near you with even better music and more energy!
